Inter very sold Marcelo Brozovic to Napoli in a swap deal a few years ago, according to a leading Italian journalist today.
Brozovic has re-established himself as a key figure in the Nerazzurri’s midfield this season, but he has been close to leaving the club on several occasions in the past.
Antonio Conte was rumoured last summer to want a swap with Paris Saint-Germain’s Leandro Paredes, but it seems the Croatian could have gone to Naples at some point.
Speaking on Piuenne during ‘Goal Show’ (via AreaNapoli.it), Sky Sport Italia reporter Francesco Modugno revealed: “Brozovic was on the verge of joining Napoli.
“Napoli had actually concluded a swap deal with Inter, which would have seen Allan join the Nerazzurri.
“Talks collapsed right at the last moment but the deal was at an advanced stage.”
Modugno did not specify why the deal fell through or when it was planned for, but it would not have been in the most recent January transfer window because Allan left Napoli to join Everton last summer.
Brozovic has made 36 appearances in all competitions for Inter this season, scoring once and providing seven assists for Conte’s side.
