Christian Eriksen took a backward step for Inter with his performance in their 1-1 draw at Spezia last night, as per reports in the Italian media today.

Eriksen came into the match at the Stadio Alberto Picco off the back of just his second Serie A goal for the Nerazzurri, but he was criticised for an off-colour display against Vincenzo Italiano’s side.

Corriere dello Sport’s print edition gave the Dane a rating of 5/10 and argued he ‘didn’t turn up’ against Spezia, accusing him of having ‘precious few ideas and zero moments of inspiration’.

Tuttosport gave Eriksen the same score and said the 29-year-old looked like ‘a poor imitation of the player who’d performed so well at Napoli’, when his second-half strike had secured a 1-1 draw for Inter.

Eriksen was Inter’s lowest-rated player in both papers alongside Samir Handanovic, whose first-half blunder allowed Diego Farias to open the scoring for Spezia.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was substituted with 17 minutes left and CdS argued that was ‘inevitable and the right decision’.

Tuttosport’s ratings: Handanovic 5; Skriniar 6, De Vrij 6.5, Bastoni 6; Hakimi 7, Barella 6, Brozovic 6, Eriksen 5 (Sanchez 5.5), Perisic 6.5 (Young 5.5); Lukaku 5.5, Lautaro 6; Conte 6.
