Inter came under fire from Lega Serie A president Paolo Dal Pino during a heated assembly today, according to a report in the Italian media.

Calcioefinanza.it revealed Dal Pino had ‘very harsh words’ for the Nerazzurri and Juventus following their attempt to join Europe’s new Super League.

Inter and Juventus were two of seven clubs to oppose a deal in recent months which would have seen Serie A sell a 10% stake in its new media company to a private equity consortium for a reported €1.7 billion.

Dal Pino accused them of trying to sabotage that agreement – along with Napoli, Lazio, Atalanta, Fiorentina and Hellas Verona – and damaging the league’s image with their attempt to join the Super League.

Inter were among several clubs to reportedly demand Dal Pino’s resignation last week, but he insisted – at the end of a speech which lasted more than half an hour – that he would continue and hoped to return to constructive dialogue.

Beppe Marotta could be forced to resign as the Italian Football Federation’s adviser to the league as a result of the Super League fiasco, but the clubs decided the matter would be discussed at a later date.
