Referee Rosario Abisso To Officiate Inter For First Time Since Controversial 3-3 Draw Against Fiorentina in 2019, Italian Media Highlight

Inter’s Serie A match against Hellas Verona tomorrow will be officiated by referee Rosario Abisso, as he takes charge of a Nerazzurri match for the first time in more than two years.

Antonio Conte’s side welcome Verona to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza tomorrow afternoon looking to move a step closer to the Scudetto, with Abisso selected as referee.

As reported by FCInterNews.it, Abisso has not been involved in an Inter match since the Nerazzurri were held to a 3-3 draw against Fiorentina in February 2019 in highly contentious circumstances.

Luciano Spalletti’s side were leading in stoppage time when the ball struck Danilo D’Ambrosio in the box and the referee awarded the Viola a penalty for handball.

Despite it seemingly hitting the Nerazzurri defender in the chest, Abisso reviewed the incident via VAR for more than five minutes before maintaining his initial decision, allowing Jordan Veretout to equalise in the 101st minute.

Inter have a poor record in matches officiated by Abisso, with just one win and the draw against Fiorentina from four games.
