Inter centre-back Milan Skriniar insisted that he had always enjoyed a positive relationship with coach Antonio Conte and that his early difficulties were just down to him adapting to a change in tactics.

The Slovakian played the full 90 minutes as Inter defeated Hellas Verona 1-0 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this afternoon, moving them to within six points of the Scudetto.

It marked his 32nd consecutive league appearance and in an interview with Italian television broadcaster DAZN after the final whistle, Skriniar insisted that there had never been issues with Conte.

“I’ve never had any problems with Conte, I’ve always had a good relationship with him. I needed time to get used to the three-man defence, I’m happy to help the team push on. We must continue like this to get to the objective we all want,” Skriniar declared.

The match against Verona was settled by a solitary goal by substitute Matteo Darmian, and Skriniar felt his impact was proof of the strong unity within the Inter team.

“We are a strong group who attack and defend together. We have been united since the beginning of the season and we will be until the end, which is important.

“It also applies to the players who play less. After two draws was important to win again, there was great joy in the dressing room,” Skriniar added.

The 26-year-old has been in impressive form recently and provided some crucial blocks to prevent Verona’s attack.

“Sometimes I do well, sometimes less so. I always look at the opponents and their strengths and weaknesses, this helps me to prepare against them,” he concluded.

Inter now turn their attention towards next weekend’s trip to Crotone, as they close in on the Scudetto.
