Antonio Conte’s future at Inter will depend almost entirely on their summer transfer plans, according to a report in the Italian media.

Calciomercato.com said Conte wanted reassurance from owners Suning that the Nerazzurri would not be forced to sacrifice key players in the upcoming transfer window.

While Inter’s head coach ‘could accept’ another summer in which signings are few and far between, the report claimed, he is not contemplating the idea of heading into next season with a heavily weakened squad.

This is said to be the issue which could tip the balance one way or the other regarding Conte’s future, which should become clearer once Inter president Steven Zhang returns to Milan later this week.

Conte knows that in a transfer market where everyone will struggle to spend, keeping your best players would already represent a success of sorts.

He also wants to find out whether Suning intend to remain Inter’s owners long-term or if they are planning to sell the club, an issue which will be addressed at the end of the season.

Zhang wants to sort Inter’s outstanding player salaries before he arrives back in Italy at the end of this week, the report added.

As well as this, he wants to return to Milan with an update regarding Inter’s search for a new main shirt sponsor to replace Pirelli.
