Inter have won 13 home games on the bounce in Serie A for the first time in a decade, a report in the Italian media highlighted today.

The Nerazzurri ground out a hard-fought 1-0 win over Hellas Verona yesterday thanks to a late strike from super-sub Matteo Darmian.

Tuttosport’s print edition said Inter hadn’t won 13 home games in a row since the days of Rafa Benitez and Leonardo during the 2010-11 season.

Antonio Conte secured the three points at San Siro after another goal from Darmian, described in this report as ‘a specialist’ in his 3-5-2 system.

Inter did not produce a sparkling performance against the Gialloblu, the report added, but they nonetheless secured a vital win which moves them closer to becoming Serie A champions.

Conte’s side struggled to cope with Hellas Verona’s high tempo while also suffering an off-day from their three midfielders, albeit Lautaro Martinez did have a couple of great chances which he was unable to convert.

Inter also seemed to have trouble playing in the intense afternoon heat, TS suggested, but in any case they now have a week to prepare for Saturday’s next match at Crotone.

The report assured they were likely to produce a much improved performance at the Stadio Ezio Scida.
