Inter were urged to make a move for Miralem Pjanic by their former forward Antonio Cassano on Monday.

Pjanic joined Barcelona from Juventus last summer in a swap deal with Arthur, but the Bosnian has struggled for game time under Ronald Koeman.

The 31-year-old has not featured in any of Barca’s last eight games in La Liga and would most likely be allowed to leave if a reasonable offer arrived.

“I’d go to Barcelona on foot and sign Pjanic if I were Inter,” Cassano said on Bobo TV, Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel.

“Imagine a midfield with him, Christian Eriksen and Nicolo Barella…”

Despite his admiration for Pjanic, Cassano admitted the former Roma midfielder would be unlikely to get any game time at Inter if Antonio Conte was still in charge.

Cassano has never hidden his disparaging views about Conte as a coach but he did concede that the Inter boss deserved credit for the job he was doing at San Siro.

“The big problem with signing Pjanic is that he wouldn’t play under Conte,” he added.

“Conte is like Diego Simeone: a leopard can’t change its spots, although his methods are still successful.

“I don’t like Conte but you have to give him the credit he deserves because he’s getting results.”

Pjanic has made 28 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions, without providing any goals or assists.

He last played for Koeman’s side in a 3-0 win at home to Elche on February 24.
