Samir Handanovic faces an anxious wait to discover his long-term future with Inter, according to a report in the Italian media today.

The Nerazzurri’s goalkeeper has regressed back to his early-season form during the last three games, costing Inter goals and points in their draws away at Napoli and Spezia.

Tuttosport’s print edition said Inter were still evaluating whether to offer Handanovic a one-year extension to his current deal, which expires in 2022.

Udinese’s Juan Musso is one of the possible objectives if Inter seek a new goalkeeper in the summer, but it depends on whether the club will have money to invest in the transfer window.

Handanovic’s future could well rest on what Steven Zhang tells Inter’s directors when he returns to Milan in the coming days, the Turin-based paper explained.

Inter are eager in any case to at least sign a ‘more competitive’ back-up goalkeeper than Andrei Radu or Daniele Padelli, who is out of contract in the summer and could return to Udinese.

The Nerazzurri have Gabriel Brazao and Michele Di Gregorio already on their books, but both goalkeepers are due to be sent on loan again for next season.
