Inter will have the chance to snap up Olivier Giroud on a free transfer in the summer, according to a report in the UK today.

Goal.com confirmed the striker was reluctant to sign a new deal with Chelsea before his contract expired at the end of the season.

Chelsea are open to offering Giroud a contract to stay at the club, but he would have to accept a bit-part role after falling down Thomas Tuchel’s pecking order.

Inter are being linked in Italy with a move for the 35-year-old, whom Antonio Conte already coached for six months while in charge of the Blues.

Giroud has not decided where he wants to go next but has previously attracted attention from Juventus and Inter, the report added, with the Nerazzurri coming in for him in January last year.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is likely to have several clubs interested in his services though, given clubs will not have much money to spend on transfer fees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Giroud has scored 11 goals for Chelsea in all competitions this season and will have the chance to put himself in the shop window in the summer, when he is expected to start up front for France in the European Championships.
