Inter’s new shirt sponsor is expected to pay the club more than double what Pirelli gave them, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition revealed Suning were in talks with two groups over a deal to replace the Italian tyre manufacturer, whose contract expires in the summer.
One of the interested groups is said to be ‘a big Chinese name’ but they have the same issues as Suning in terms of exporting capital abroad, due to Chinese government restrictions.
In any case, Suning are expected to secure a deal with one of these groups – albeit not imminently – for around €20-25 million per season.
Pirelli were only paying Inter €11 million plus bonuses each year to sponsor Inter’s shirts, so the club are set for a big increase in income with the new deal.
Suning were hoping to secure as much as €30 million annually from Pirelli’s replacement before the COVID-19 pandemic, but it seems they will have to settle for slightly less.
Pirelli were expected to continue their collaboration with Inter in a smaller role, but the Milan-based paper said they could now leave completely.
