Inter could bring back two former academy talents in a bid to renovate their squad, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri were hoping to reduce their wage bill in the summer by offloading some of their older and higher earners.

Ashley Young and Aleksandar Kolarov will leave Inter while Matias Vecino and Radja Nainggolan could be sold, and Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez are not certain to stay either.

Federico Dimarco and Zinho Vanheusden could be re-signed by the Nerazzurri as part of this overhaul, with club president Steven Zhang unable to guarantee a sizable budget for transfers.

Inter want a new left wing-back for next season and are studying moves for Chelsea duo Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic, the report explained.

But Dimarco could become a more appealing candidate given his younger age and lower cost, following another impressive season on loan at Hellas Verona.

Inter are due to re-sign Vanheusden from Standard Liege and the Belgian will then act as an understudy to Milan Skriniar, but Lucien Agoume and Lorenzo Pirola could have a role in the first team too.

GdS also confirmed the Nerazzurri’s interest for Velez Sarsfield midfielder Thiago Almada, a world-class prospect who has already made 72 first-team appearances aged 19.

Almada is under contract with the Argentine side until 2023 and would cost €20 million, meaning Inter could only move for him if their budget allowed it.
