Inter will have their work cut out to secure their preferred transfer targets in the summer, according to a report in the Italian media.

Tuttosport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri were hoping to sign Emerson Palmieri, Rodrigo de Paul and Edin Dzeko to reinforce Antonio Conte’s squad.

Inter will have to self-finance all their transfer business again though, with the risk of having to sell a key player to balance the books.

If they did not sacrifice a star player to raise funds, they would need to find ‘very creative’ formulas to chase deals for the above targets.

Inter want to sign Emerson Palmieri but they will only be able to offer a loan deal, and it is unlikely Chelsea would want to help out Conte after the bitter legal battle with their former head coach.

De Paul is the club’s preferred target in midfield, but he is being followed by several European clubs and would need to be signed on a two-year loan with an option to buy, which perhaps became an obligation if certain conditions were met.

Dzeko would be an easier objective if he rescinded his contract at Roma, as is being rumoured, but Inter would need to spread the Bosnian’s hefty salary across several seasons to make it affordable.

In terms of departures, Inter could seek to offload Arturo Vidal and the €6.5 million he is due to earn next season, with Marseille pursuing a deal for the midfielder.
