Matias Vecino’s career at Inter could be coming to an end, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Tuttosport’s print edition said Inter would use the upcoming transfer window to reduce their wage bill and lower the average age of the squad, in order to combat ongoing economic problems.

Steven Zhang has made it clear to the Nerazzurri’s directors that they must be extremely careful with money in the summer, and this will force Inter to offload players they no longer want.

Inter will seek buyers for Vecino, the report claimed, while Aleksandar Kolarov and Ashley Young will probably be released when their contracts expire.

Vecino has made 100 appearances for the Nerazzurri since joining from Fiorentina in 2017, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists.

The midfielder has only featured five times under Antonio Conte this season though, for a total of 99 minutes played, having undergone knee surgery last summer.
