Inter have rejected an approach from Manchester City for Romelu Lukaku, according to a report in the Italian media.

Calciomercato.com said Pep Guardiola was seeking a replacement for Sergio Aguero, who is out of contract and will leave in the summer.

Lukaku has scored 27 goals in 40 games for Inter this season and is renowned for his excellent link-up play, two things which have persuaded Guardiola to include him on a three-man shortlist with Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

Manchester City made preliminary approaches for Lukaku, but Inter made it immediately clear that they were not prepared to even listen to their offers.

Lukaku is extremely happy in Milan and has no intention of returning to the Premier League now, where he played for Manchester United, Everton, West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea.

The 27-year-old is said to have ‘only just started’ his project at Inter, which will almost certainly see Antonio Conte’s side deliver the club’s first league title since 2010 very soon.
