Walter Zenga has pinpointed a crucial turning point in Inter’s season and singled out two Nerazzurri players for special praise.

Inter could be crowned Serie A champions tomorrow for the first time in 11 years, if they beat Crotone later today and Atalanta fail to win at Sassuolo 24 hours later.

Antonio Conte’s side are 11 points clear of second-placed Atalanta, meaning they only need four points from their final five games to be certain of the Scudetto.

Speaking to Perform (via FcInterNews.it) on Friday about the Nerazzurri’s league campaign, Zenga argued: “Inter finished bottom of a UEFA Champions League group in which they would normally have finished first or second.

“They were also behind in the league, but from that moment on they took flight in Serie A.”

Zenga was also at pains to highlight the excellent performances of Christian Eriksen and Ivan Perisic, who have become mainstays in Inter’s midfield since the end of January.

“Eriksen was a ghost of a player at the start of the second, Conte probably had the patience to wait for him to come good,” L’Uomo Ragno added.

“As far as Perisic is concerned, he was a workhorse until a few months ago but it’s the entire structure of the team which is solid.”

Eriksen is expected to start tonight’s crucial match at the Stadio Ezio Scida while Perisic is reportedly battling Matteo Darmian to keep his place in the side at left wing-back.
