Inter President Steven Zhang returned to Italy this week and immediately set about addressing the squad, with strikers Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez coming in for recognition.
Zhang had been in China since the end of October but arrived in Milan on Wednesday and met the squad at the Appiano Gentile training centre, with Inter on the verge of winning the Scudetto.
Indeed, the Nerazzurri can be crowned champions tomorrow if they beat Crotone and Atalanta fail to win against Sassuolo.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, Zhang spoke to the players and coaching staff as he thanked them for their efforts this season and urged them to finish the job and become champions.
However, he reserved particular praise for strikers Lukaku and Martinez, with the 36 goals scored between them propelling Inter to top spot and the cusp of the title.
Belgium international Lukaku has scored 21 league goals this term, whilst Martinez has contributed a further 15, although neither have found the net in any of Inter’s past four games.
