Inter wing-back Ivan Perisic insists that his side must secure victory against Crotone in this afternoon’s Serie A match, as they look to close in on the Scudetto.
The Nerazzurri face Serie A’s bottom club at the Stadio Ezia Scida knowing that victory will send them to the verge of the title, and only a victory for Atalanta against Sassuolo tomorrow would prevent them from being crowned champions.
In an interview with InterTV ahead of kick off in Calabria, the Croatia international claimed that they were only focused on securing victories in their remaining league matches to secure the title.
“We have to win. It’s simple, there are five games left and we want to seal it as soon as possible,” the former Wolfsburg player declared.
Inter come up against a Crotone side with a potent attack but a porous defence, with the worst record in Serie A.
“They have good players up front who make a difference. We have to be careful and play as a team, by defending well.
“We have prepared well for the match and we know what their strengths are, but I am convinced that we will do well. We want to end the season today.”
Perisic scored the last time Inter visited the Stadio Ezio Scida, in a 2-0 win in 2017, but he claimed that he was only focused on a team victory.
“Yes, it could be a good omen. But it’s not important who scores, only that Inter win,” Perisic concluded.
Perisic has not been named in Antonio Conte’s starting line-up for the match but will hope to make an impact from the bench.
