Inter defender Stefan De Vrij has been left seething with his former representatives after they secured unfavourable terms in his move to the Nerazzurri and could sue.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere della Sera, De Vrij’s 2018 free transfer from Lazio to Inter was handled by Sports Entertainment Group (SEG), but the Netherlands international is furious with the economic terms of the agreement.

SEG are thought to have handled negotiations with Inter directly and earned €7.5 million from the defender’s move, but this was dependent on De Vrij earning less than €50m across his five-year contract.

This has prompted suggestions that SEG deliberately brought De Vrij’s earnings down, whilst they also secured an agreement to obtain a further €200,000 every six months.

Meanwhile, the agency secured a 7.5% claim to any sale of the player, and whilst owner Kees Vos maintains that De Vrij was always informed of these arrangements, the player was furious upon finding out and has now signed up with agent Mino Raiola.

Indeed, the former Feyenoord defender is also thought to be considering taking legal action against SEG.

De Vrij’s contract is due to expire in 2023 and Inter are set to begin negotiations on a new deal for the 29-year-old.
