Inter have all-but sealed the Scudetto this season and could be champions next weekend, if not later today, Italian media claim.
The Nerazzurri overcame a stubborn Crotone at the Stadio Ezio Scida yesterday to record a 2-0 win, courtesy of second half goals from Christian Eriksen and Achraf Hakimi, to move onto 82 points with just four games remaining.
As reported by Il Secolo XIX, Antonio Conte’s side only require a maximum of one point to mathematically guarantee the league title, and could do so at home to Sampdoria next Saturday.
However, the Nerazzurri could in fact become champions today should Atalanta fail to defeat Sassuolo, and the news outlet argues that it is only a matter of time before Inter end their 11-year wait for the title, with the Scudetto practically guaranteed.
Il Secolo XIX ran with the headline: “Inter win in Crotone, Scudetto is in the safe, one point is enough,” to emphasise the almost certainty that the Biscione would end Juventus’ nine-year streak and win the Serie A title.
