Alessandro Bastoni and Matteo Darmian want to stay at Inter next season like the rest of their teammates, according to their agent.
Inter were confirmed as Serie A champions yesterday for the 19th time in their history, after Bastoni’s former club Atalanta were held to a 1-1 draw away at Sassuolo.
The Nerazzurri are braced for a difficult summer transfer market in which many of their key players will receive interest from Europe’s elite – but it doesn’t look as if Bastoni or Darmian will be angling for a move.
Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb today, their agent Tulio Tinti assured: “All Inter’s players want to stay at the club.
“It’s not easy to win things like they have this year.
“I don’t think Steven Zhang has come back just to celebrate the scudetto, he’s here to plan for the future as well.
“You can’t stand still in football, otherwise things start going wrong.
“Antonio Conte and Beppe Marotta will have to speak with the owners, like they do every year, to understand what they’re faced with.”
Inter will be looking to improve in the UEFA Champions League next season, following their disappointing elimination at the group stage this year.
Antonio Conte’s side is arguably in need of reinforcements but it seems there will be precious little money available to strengthen the squad.
Asked what Inter needed to do in order to improve, Tinti said: “You don’t always have to spend loads in order to improve and you’re not certain to improve when you do, either.
“Money helps, but it’s not the only thing.
“It’s difficult to improve a team that’s won the scudetto and the market at the moment is tough, without much money going around.
“Nobody has much money but at the same time nobody wants to sell their key players, unless they receive huge offers that I can’t foresee arriving.
“Clubs will need to be creative and using their knowledge of football, perhaps picking up players who haven’t done well lately and revitalising them.”
