Stefan de Vrij is set to extend his contract with Inter in the next few weeks, according to a report in the Italian media today.

FcInterNews.it said the defender was happy to continue his stay with the Nerazzurri, despite receiving approaches from Barcelona and Liverpool.

De Vrij’s agent Mino Raiola was in Milan a couple of weeks ago to address his contract situation, and it looks as if everything is in place.

The 29-year-old is expected to sign a new four-year deal – keeping him at Inter until 2025 – with an annual salary worth around €4.5 million.

De Vrij is currently involved in a legal spat with his former agency Seg, the report explained, whom he believes did not manage his interests properly during his moves to Lazio (in 2014) and Inter (in 2018).

The saga is not expected to have any repercussions whatsoever on his future at Inter though, instead remaining an ‘off-pitch matter’ which will be dealt with by his legal representatives.

De Vrij spoke to the Dutch media about Inter’s Serie A title triumph today, praising Antonio Conte for his tactical genius and arguing that last season’s UEFA Europa League final defeat set them up for this year’s scudetto.
