Javier Zanetti has thanked Inter’s players and staff for writing another glorious page of the club’s history with the Serie A title.
Inter were confirmed as champions on Sunday after they beat Crotone and Atalanta were held to a draw by Sassuolo, leaving them 13 points clear of second place with four games left.
Zanetti was captain of the last Nerazzurri side which won Serie A in 2010 and he oversaw this one as the club’s vice-president.
Pupi wrote on Instagram: “This victory began two years ago, when Antonio Conte and his staff walked through the gates of Appiano Gentile for the first time.
“They brought with them a working culture of the highest level and started transferring a great winning mentality.
“They did nothing on a daily basis but thinking about how to improve the team.
“This is a group of players who have followed this process with great professionalism, overcoming certain difficult moments that occurred by always believing in the work they were doing.
“This scudetto is all thanks to them.
“You’ve written a new, marvellous and important page of history at this club, making millions of Inter fans happy.
“Them, the fans, our beating heart forever: they’ve never abandoned us.
“Mister, staff, players: as vice-president I know how difficult it’s been to reach the finish line.
“For this reason, I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for having allowed me to come with you on this glorious journey.
“Yesterday, today and tomorrow, always Forza Inter!”
