Antonio Conte has offered an olive branch to his old foe Jose Mourinho after the Special One was appointed Roma’s next head coach.

Conte and Mourinho were bitter rivals at times when they were in the Premier League together with Chelsea and Manchester United, with Conte once famously calling him ‘a little man’ after an FA Cup tie.

The pair will renew their rivalry with Inter and Roma but Conte seems more than happy to be reunited with Mourinho in Serie A next season.

Speaking to La Iene on Italia 1, Conte said: “It’s certainly brilliant news for Serie A (to have Mourinho back).

“I wish him the best, apart from when he plays against Inter.

“I will certainly greet him warmly when we meet, there’s mutual respect between us.

“But when there’s competition, the old Latin phrase applies: mors tu vita mea (your death, my life).”

Conte has led Inter to their first Serie A title since Mourinho’s days in 2010 and the Nerazzurri’s head coach is still reveling in their success.

“It’s a nice satisfaction both for the players and the club’s directors,” Conte added.

“It’s also nice for me, obviously, because when I become a team’s head coach I also become their first supporter.

“I was also the first supporter at Arezzo, Bari and Siena etc.”

Conte was then asked about his future at Inter but remained tight-lipped once again, saying: “Let’s enjoy this scudetto for now, then we can see what decisions to take.

“We’ll choose what’s best for Inter.”

Inter’s boss was also asked if Juventus president Andrea Agnelli had got in touch to congratulate him for winning the scudetto.

“He hasn’t called me but he congratulated Steven Zhang, so that’s enough,” Conte concluded.
