Inter are ready to launch an assault on Lazio for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Il Messaggero (via FcInter1908.it) said the Nerazzurri were ‘the biggest threat’ to Lazio president Claudio Lotito in his bid to keep the midfielder for another season.

Antonio Conte is crazy about Milinkovic-Savic and Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is preparing to offer €80 million for the Serbian international, having made fresh contact with his agent Mateja Kezman.

Inter would supposedly be financing this move with the €250 million loan deal they are due to secure soon from a US-based group.

Milinkovic-Savic is still dreaming of moving to Real Madrid but Lotito has always ‘asked for the moon’ in order to sell his star player.

Lazio’s president will not drop below €100 million for the 26-year-old, who has scored eight goals in all competitions for Simone Inzaghi’s side this season.

Inter are known to be battling serious financial problems and sporting director Piero Ausilio today confirmed they would need to be very careful with their spending in the transfer market.

Given that most outlets are reporting Inter will need to reduce costs in the summer, this report on Milinkovic-Savic would seem fanciful at best.
