Antonio Conte will give Inter’s fringe players a chance to shine during their Serie A run-in, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Tuttosport’s print edition said Conte would give starts to Matias Vecino, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Andrea Ranocchia and others in the Nerazzurri’s last four games of the season.
Aleksandar Kolarov and Ashley Young are both out of contract in the summer and they could get another chance to represent Inter before they leave.
Inter have nothing tangible to play for between now and the end of the season after wrapping up the scudetto on Sunday.
Conte can no longer reach Roberto Mancini’s record of 97 points at Inter from the 2006-07 season, the report highlighted, although Inter can get to 90 by taking eight points from the final 12 available.
In any case, Conte will be determined to exact revenge on his former club Juventus for Inter’s Coppa Italia semi-final elimination back in February, when they visit the Allianz Stadium next Saturday.
Conte has never managed to win in Turin since leaving the Bianconeri in 2014 and will ensure Inter’s players are fired up for that match, the Turin-based paper suggested.
Another report today even said Inter’s head coach had ‘circled the match in red’ on his calendar, with the aim of denting Juventus’ hopes of UEFA Champions League qualification.
