Inter boss Antonio Conte is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Corriere dello Sport’s print edition said Spurs had made contact with Conte over becoming their new head coach, after they dismissed Jose Mourinho last month.

Talks were said to be ‘productive’, with Conte even discussing the club’s squad and potential reinforcements needed for next season.

However, Conte’s priority is to stay at Inter and he will remain in charge as long as Suning give him the necessary reassurance over their future plans.

Conte will hold a ‘decisive’ meeting with Inter president Steven Zhang at the end of the season, in which the pair will clarify all issues regarding next season and beyond.

He is under contract with the Nerazzurri until 2022 with an annual salary worth €13 million after tax, another reason it would be difficult for him to leave Inter.

Conte has previous experience coaching in London with Chelsea, where he won the Premier League title and FA Cup during a two-year stint in charge.

But he would have to start another project from scratch if he joined Tottenham Hotspur, the report highlighted, whereas he has already built something significant at Inter after two years of hard work.
