Daniele Padelli is overwhelmed after becoming a Serie A champion with his beloved Inter.
The Nerazzurri won the scudetto with four games to spare on Sunday, ending the club’s 10-year wait for a major trophy.
Padelli has not featured for Antonio Conte’s side this season but he is convinced that everyone contributed to this title, even those who weren’t playing on a weekly basis.
Speaking on Inter’s official podcast, Kick Off, the former Torino goalkeeper explained: “Our group was the decisive factor.
“It was a long season and it was a struggle, we went through difficult moments.
“Only a great group could have emerged victorious at the end; we proved we’re great players and real men.
“This is a scudetto for everyone, from those who take to the field to those who are behind the scenes.”
Padelli was caught on social media celebrating Inter’s title out in the streets of Milan with his fellow supporters.
Asked how those celebrations came about, the 35-year-old explained: “I decided to go out because I couldn’t celebrate with my teammates.
“I tried to be careful and stay isolated, given the moment we’re in, but I couldn’t keep my emotions inside me.
“This is a feeling I’ll keep with me forever; I’ve been an Inter supporter since birth and being able to celebrate a scudetto with this club is something unthinkable.
“I’m an Inter player but I’m first and foremost an Inter fan, I’m delighted with how this season has gone.”
Padelli was playing for Bari when Inter last won the scudetto in 2010 but the goalkeeper believes it was all worth the wait.
“This repays all the years of waiting,” he added.
“They’ve been long years which were full of difficulties, but now we can enjoy this scudetto which is fully deserved.”
Padelli is expected to leave Inter at the end of this season when his contract expires, with a report in Italy today linking him with a return to Udinese.
