Federico Dimarco is set to return to Inter for next season, according to multiple reports in Italy tonight.

As per FcInter1908.it, Inter are ready to welcome back their former academy talent after talks with Hellas Verona stalled on a possible permanent move.

Hellas Verona wanted a discount on the agreement they had previously reached with Inter last summer, which obliged them to pay a fee just above €6 million to make Dimarco’s loan move permanent.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio made it clear to the Gialloblu that no such concession would be granted, and so Dimarco looks set to come back to Inter and have a second chance under Antonio Conte.

Ivan Perisic will remain Inter’s first-choice left wing-back for next season after turning his Nerazzurri career around, while Dimarco will begin as a back-up to the Croatian.

Dimarco will effectively be replacing Ashley Young, the report explained, with the Englishman set to be released when his contract expires in the summer.

In addition to FCIN1908, news of Dimarco’s return was also reported by Sky Sport Italia journalist Matteo Moretto, who works in collaboration with transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

Moretto tweeted: “Inter and Hellas Verona are close to an agreement for Dimarco, who will return to the Nerazzurri after a great season on loan with Hellas.”
