Inter’s players are expected to reject a request from Steven Zhang to give up two months’ wages, according to a leading Italian broadcaster this evening.
As per Sky Sport Italia (via FcInter1908.it), Zhang met Inter’s players after training today and asked them to waive their monthly installments for November and December 2020.
Inter would receive a significant financial boost if the first-team squad gave up those payments, but the initial signs in that sense ‘are not positive’.
The Nerazzurri’s players did not offer an immediate response to Zhang’s proposal, instead opting to consider the matter and talk to each other first, but they are unlikely to agree to it.
Inter would have to pursue alternative options if the players rejected this request, because it is absolutely necessary for them to cut costs ahead of next season.
Suning have owned Inter since the summer of 2016 and this is undoubtedly their most difficult period since taking charge of the club.
