Alexis Sanchez sprained his ankle during Inter’s 3-1 win over Roma tonight, according to a report from a leading Italian broadcaster.

The Chilean forward started the Nerazzurri’s match at San Siro but was forced to come off after 35 minutes, being replaced by Lautaro Martinez.

Sky Sport Italia said the first signs were that Sanchez had suffered an ankle sprain, after taking a blow midway through the first half.

There was no mention of how long Sanchez would be out for, but with only two games left this season it is possible Inter will not see him again before the summer.

Inter secured their 15th straight home win thanks to goals from Marcelo Brozovic, Matias Vecino and Romelu Lukaku.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan halved the deficit for Roma on the half-hour, but Paulo Fonseca’s side were unable to find an equaliser despite hitting the post through Edin Dzeko in the second half.

Inter remain 13 points clear of Atalanta and AC Milan in the Serie A table after both sides won their respective matches as well.
