Antonio Conte has completed a truly fantastic achievement by winning the Serie A title at Inter, according to Nerazzurri legend Beppe Bergomi.
Inter were confirmed as champions with four games to spare, ending the club’s 10-year wait for a major trophy.
Some have suggested the Nerazzurri were always likely to win the scudetto because they had the league’s best squad, but Bergomi has a very different view.
Speaking to Sky Sport 24 today, Inter’s former defender admitted: “At the beginning of the season, I didn’t think Conte had the best squad in Serie A.
“I thought it was just the best managed squad; Conte is constantly on top of his players in a constructive way.
“Inter’s strength this season has been to give everyone games, and that’s not lucky, it’s about having a long-term outlook when you’re working.”
Inter will be back in action tonight when Conte’s side welcome Roma to San Siro, but a lot of people are already focusing on Saturday’s Derby d’Italia away at Juventus.
Bergomi is certain the Nerazzurri will give everything to beat their arch rivals in Turin, arguing: “Conte is keen to win every game between now and the end of the season.
“It’ll be a tough game at Juventus, history tells us that.”
Inter will finish their season after facing Roma and Juventus with a game at home to Udinese, after which they will be presented with the Serie A trophy.
