Inter are continuing to monitor Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter, according to a report in the German media today.
As per Sport Bild (via FcInterNews.it), the 27-year-old is out of contract in 2022 and has never disappeared off Inter’s radar, following an approach in last summer’s transfer window.
Inter’s financial problems unsurprisingly represent a big obstacle to any deal, while they would also be unable to guarantee Ginter a place in their starting XI.
Ginter has made it clear he would be open to a contract extension with Borussia Monchengladbach, although their sporting director Max Eberl will find it difficult to grant a new deal.
Inter remain interested all the same in Ginter, who has made 44 appearances in all competitions for Marco Rose’s side this season.
Borussia Monchengladbach would stand a better chance of offering a new deal to the centre-back if they can sell players like Denis Zakaria or Florian Neuhaus, the report added.
