Inter are in serious danger of losing key players if they don’t have an ambitious project for next season, according to a report in the Italian media today.
As per Tuttosport’s print edition, Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez would be open to leaving the Nerazzurri if Suning cannot convince them that they have clear plans for the club’s future.
Both players have always declared their love for Inter, but they remain ambitious players and do not want to live in limbo, the report warned.
Neither Lukaku nor Lautaro is willing make financial sacrifices for the club unless Suning present a clear project, and their entourages have already told Inter’s directors that they’d want to leave if this didn’t happen.
Inter have no plans to sell their big players in the summer, but Lukaku has interest from Manchester City while Real Madrid are chasing Lautaro.
Lukaku is said to be worth €120 million while Lautaro is valued at €90 million, but Inter will hope it doesn’t reach the phase where they have to consider letting either leave.
Inter’s key players will take their lead from Antonio Conte when it comes to deciding their future, so they will have to wait until he meets Steven Zhang to have a clearer grasp on the situation.
If Conte receives the reassurance he is seeking from Zhang then players will feel more comfortable in staying, otherwise anything really could happen.
Alessandro Bastoni and Achraf Hakimi also have lots of clubs following them and they too could leave if Conte walked out on Inter, along with Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio and Lele Oriali.
