Antonio Conte will stay tight-lipped on his future at Inter until he has met with Steven Zhang, a report in the Italian media explained today.
As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition, Conte deserted his post-match duties after last night’s 3-1 win over Roma, having already avoided questions from the media on Tuesday.
Conte will not give any public response on his future at Inter until he holds talks with Zhang, where Inter’s boss will ask for clarity and reassurance about Suning’s plans.
In order to keep Conte, Zhang will need to ensure they still have ambitious objectives for the Nerazzurri, including another Serie A title and a big UEFA Champions League campaign.
Conte kept quiet before and after last night’s game but he was as feisty as ever in the second half, when Lautaro Martinez reacted badly to being substituted and kicked a water bottle in anger.
Inter’s boss told El Toro ‘you must show respect, don’t act like a superstar’, after the striker made it clear he disagreed with Conte’s decision to replace him with Andrea Pinamonti.
Conte and Lautaro have always had a tight relationship, as confirmed by Lautaro himself on Tuesday, but the striker is not certain to stay at the club yet due to Inter’s financial issues.
