Andrea Ranocchia has issued a rallying cry to his Inter teammates after last night’s 3-1 win over Roma.

Inter secured a 15th straight home win in Serie A thanks to goals from Marcelo Brozovic, Matias Vecino and Romelu Lukaku, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan scoring for the visitors.

Ranocchia played the full 90 minutes at San Siro and produced another impressive display at the centre of defence.

“It’s not a coincidence we have a higher points average in the games where I play…” the defender jokingly told Inter TV last night.

“I’m happy, we’ve made important progress and now we have two games left to honour this season in the best way possible.

“In the last two seasons, since the coach (Antonio Conte) arrived, everyone has trained well and always makes sure they’re ready to play.

“These wins are only the result of what we do during the week.”

Ranocchia made a particularly impressive clearance to deny Stephan El Shaarawy equalising in the second half and he admitted he was pleased with how that turned out.

“I dived in and tried to get the ball, I’m happy with how it went,” the 33-year-old added.

Inter remain 13 points clear at the top of Serie A after Atalanta and AC Milan also picked up wins last night.

The Nerazzurri’s next match will pit them against Juventus for the fourth and final Derby d’Italia of the season, after which they will finish their league campaign at home to Udinese.
