Inter proved they are ‘an extraordinary team’ after beating Roma despite the club’s off-field problems, a report in the Italian media argued today.
Tuttosport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri’s financial issues should not distract everyone from the incredible form Antonio Conte’s side are showing.
Inter’s 3-1 win over Roma last night means they have now beaten 18 of their 19 Serie A opponents at least once this season, with only Udinese standing in their way for a clean sweep.
The Nerazzurri have won 15 games out of 17 since the halfway point of the season and are on a club-record 15-game winning run in the league at San Siro.
Conte’s side need only two points from their last two games to become the second Inter side ever to collect 90 points, after Roberto Mancini led the Nerazzurri to 97 points in 2006-07.
What’s more, Inter have now scored with 16 different players this season after Matias Vecino scored their second last night, confirming Conte’s side are a perfectly oiled machine.
Romelu Lukaku increased his league total for the season to 22 goals, while he also became one of four players last night to score 15 home goals after Christian Vieri, Diego Milito and Mauro Icardi.
Conte has overtaken Jose Mourinho’s total for wins in charge of Inter, meanwhile, with 63 to the Special One’s 60.
These are some of the reasons Inter’s players want Conte to remain in charge next season, although Suning will need to prove they still have big plans for Inter.
As far as Lautaro Martinez is concerned, the Turin-based paper said he was likely to start at Juventus on Saturday despite his spat with Conte, because Alexis Sanchez came off with an ankle injury during the first half.
