Lautaro Martinez is being made to wait for his new contract at Inter, a report in the Italian media explained today.

As per Gazzetta.it, El Toro is due to sign a three-year deal with the Nerazzurri which would almost double his wages, from €2.5 million annually to €4.5 million plus bonuses.

An agreement between the parties was reached several months ago, but Inter’s financial problems are preventing Lautaro from finalising the extension.

Lautaro even changed his agent last month to Alejandro Camano, who also manages Achraf Hakimi, but that doesn’t appear to be a problem for the negotiations.

Uncertainty is growing at Inter around their financial problems and the future of owners Suning, the Milan-based publication added.

The confusion is not helping anyone stay calm, and nor is the request made by Steven Zhang for players to give up two months of their wages.

Inter have won the Serie A title after a never-ending season, with the Nerazzurri hardly getting a pre-season after their previous campaign ended on August 21.

There seems little scope to celebrate at present, though, and Lautaro is one of many people waiting to discover his future.

His agent Camano earlier confirmed the striker would be happy to stay at Inter, but warned there could be no certainty given the current situation.
