Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal has insisted that he is not thinking about his future, despite interest from Ligue 1 club Marseille.
The Chile international joined Inter from Barcelona at the start of the season but has struggled to make an impact and seen his future come into question, as Inter won the Scudetto this season.
In an interview with compatriot Mauricio Pinilla for television channel ESPN Chile yesterday, Vidal insisted that he was only focused on Inter and representing his nation at the Copa America this summer, but admitted he could return to South America later in his career.
“It is very difficult to think of another team, after become champions two weeks ago. We will see what will happen after joining up with the national team, but now it is very difficult,” Vidal claimed.
“I often talk [with Marseille coach Jorge Sampaoli], but not about the future. I respect Inter and respect him. We always talk about winning something with Chile. Later it would be a dream to play for Flamengo or Colo Colo. I really like Boca Juniors and I follow them. Also America of Mexico.”
The former Juventus midfielder has struggled to come back into Inter’s team since undergoing knee surgery in March, but insisted he was on the road to recovery.
“I am improving every day since my injury, I was calm after the operation. The important thing now is to recover and not overload both knees. Now I think about the future.
“It was another league title, another trophy. There was a lot of effort and so much sacrifice. I’m always grateful to those who support me.
“I bring joy, unity, and a lot of determination. I like being a leader, feeling important when it comes to training and playing. I have always felt that in the teams I was in that my teammates always had great confidence in me.
“The Champions League is my dream. I have already won many titles but I dream of the Champions League. I want to continue in Europe and fight for this.”
Vidal joined compatriot Alexis Sanchez at Inter and claimed that the forward was happy at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
“I see that Alexis is happy, with joy, and he wants to play, like when we were at Colo Colo together. We have always had healthy competition. We wanted to be together with Inter and achieve something else,” Vidal added.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder has made 30 appearances for Inter this season in all competitions, scoring twice.
