Inter owners Suning have failed to capitalise on the club’s Scudetto success this season and instead have shown poor leadership, according to Italian media.

The Nerazzurri won their first Scudetto since 2010 earlier this month, but the joy has been tempered by ongoing financial concerns, with players asked to take wage cuts and the future of coach Antonio Conte in doubt.

According to Il Sole 24 Ore, Suning have shown inexperience in not allowing the Inter squad to enjoy their Scudetto success and build towards a successful future by immediately causing concern with wage cut requests.

The demands to bring wages down being made just days after a first title in 11 years are considered to be poor timing, with an impact on morale and players’ desire to remain committed to the project.

Inter have enjoyed victories over Sampdoria and Roma since being crowned champions, but Suning’s approach is considered to have the potential to dampen the mood in the camp.
