Inter remain interested in a deal to sign Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter, according to a report in Germany today.

German sports tabloid Bild (via FcInter1908.it) said the Nerazzurri were one of three clubs ‘monitoring’ the situation regarding the 27-year-old, along with Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

Ginter is out of contract with Borussia Monchengladbach in 2022 but he will probably not stay beyond this summer unless he signs an extension.

The Bundesliga side will consider offers that arrive for the centre-back, with Transfermarkt valuing Ginter at around €35 million.

While reporting the news from Bild, FCIN1908 noted that Inter might need to sell one of their starting defenders in the summer in order to combat their financial problems.

If that scenario were to arise, the Nerazzurri could well pursue a deal for Ginter as a replacement.

Ginter has played for Borussia Monchengladbach since his move from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, making 147 appearances in all competitions and scoring 10 goals.
