Inter remain intent on recalling Federico Dimarco from Hellas Verona, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri would need two signings at left wing-back in the summer, with Ashley Young and Ivan Perisic both set to leave.
Dimarco is the first target for Inter in that position, having enjoyed a fantastic season on loan at Hellas Verona where he has scored five goals and provided five assists.
Hellas Verona have an option to make the 23-year-old’s move permanent at the end of the season, but Inter are confident they can reach an agreement with the Gialloblu to bring him back to San Siro.
Dimarco’s attacking prowess and set-piece ability make him an ideal option for Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system, the Milan-based paper argued.
He has also proved he can play as a left-sided centre-back in a three-man defence, though, underlining his tactical development during the last 18 months in Verona.
What’s more, Dimarco would be a useful reinforcement for Inter in terms of their squad lists for next season, given that he is an academy product.
He would enable Inter to fill a homegrown slot in their list both for Serie A and the UEFA Champions League, while he would also cost nothing to recall.
