Inter have received a congratulatory message from their former striker Adriano after winning the Serie A title.

Antonio Conte’s side were crowned champions with four games to spare earlier this month, ending the Nerazzurri’s 10-year wait for a major trophy.

The club’s future remains uncertain due to their well-documented financial problems, but they will put that to one side on Sunday when they are handed trophy after facing Udinese.

In the meantime, Inter’s ex-forward Adriano told FcInterNews.it on Tuesday: “I’m very happy Inter have won the Scudetto.

“I toasted their success with my family, it was beautiful.”

Adriano had particular words of praise for his successor Romelu Lukaku, who has scored 23 league goals for Inter during the current campaign.

“I’m sending Lukaku my best wishes, he’s a phenomenal player and a fantastic person,” he added.

“Romelu knows that though, I called him recently so I could congratulate him.”

Adriano also had a simple message for Inter’s supporters: “I love you.”

Adriano joined Inter from Flamengo in 2001 and went on to score 74 goals in 177 appearances across all competitions.

During his time with the Nerazzurri, the Brazilian won three Serie A titles along with three Coppa Italia titles and three Supercoppa Italiana trophies.
