Inter have strong interest from Atalanta for their defender Lorenzo Pirola, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As per FcInterNews.it, the Bergamaschi have sent scouts to watch Pirola when he plays for Monza in tonight’s Serie B play-off semi-final second leg against Cittadella.

Pirola could be making his final appearance for the Biancorossi after Cristian Brocchi’s side lost the first leg 3-0 away from home, meaning it will soon be time for Inter to decide his future.

Antonio Conte appreciates the 19-year-old and could recall him to replace the departing Aleksandar Kolarov, but Inter have a number of clubs ready to ask for a loan or even a permanent deal.

Inter have never taken into consideration the idea of selling Pirola permanently, but their strategies could change if they needed money in order to finance their transfer campaign.

Pirola struggled for game time when he joined Monza on loan last summer, but he has nailed down a spot in the starting XI in the last few months of the season.
