Inter have received an improved offer from Cagliari for Radja Nainggolan, according to a leading Italian transfer expert.

Gianluca Di Marzio said the Sardinians had made a bid worth €5 million to make the midfielder’s loan move permanent, but it is a complex offer.

Cagliari would pay Inter €2 million up front, plus €1.5-2 million in compensation for the bonuses they received for Nicolo Barella after the Nerazzurri won the Serie A title.

What’s more, Inter would have an option – valid for 18 months from July 1 – to sign Cagliari youngster Riccardo Ladinetti (who is worth €250,000 in the Rossoblu’s accounts) for €2.5 million.

Cagliari previously offered Inter €3 million for Nainggolan, who is out of contract with the Nerazzurri in 2022 and has not enjoyed his finest season – but that was rejected.

Inter are also considering terminating Nainggolan’s contract and cutting their losses on the Belgian – but that might not benefit Cagliari, because the 33-year-old would then demand a higher salary in negotiations with them.
