Inter may still need to sacrifice some of their star players despite securing a €275 million loan from Oaktree, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition warned it was ‘a real possibility’ that the Nerazzurri would sell one or two members of their starting XI.
It remains to be seen which players these would be because, as the report noted, not all first-team players are equally important.
Inter president Steven Zhang could discuss this scenario when he meets Antonio Conte and the club’s directors in the next few days (perhaps just after Sunday’s match against Udinese).
Zhang must reassure Conte that Inter’s financial problems will not repeat themselves next season, while promising to keep the Nerazzurri’s squad at a competitive level.
Everyone is hoping to continue together but all parties will need to be on the same page if the project is to continue into a third season.
