Inter are set to battle Juventus over Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri were very interested in the Serbian international, who could replace Milan Skriniar or Alessandro Bastoni if one of them had to be sold.

Juventus are in a similar position to Inter and would chase Milenkovic if they needed to make a sacrifice in defence, with both clubs looking to balance the books.

Milenkovic is certain to leave Fiorentina this summer, with his contract expiring in 2022 and no sign of a new deal being signed.

Fiorentina want €25 million for Milenkovic and are hoping they can start a bidding war for the 23-year-old, who has scored three goals in 37 appearances this season.

In addition to Inter and Juventus, Milenkovic also has interest from three clubs in the Premier League, namely Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Milenkovic is thought to want to stay in Serie A, paving the way for a Derby d’Italia of sorts in the transfer market.
