Inter are working to bring their wage bill down next season and will not offer new deals to five players due to be out of contract this summer, including Andrea Ranocchia and Danilo D’Ambrosio.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, President Steven Zhang’s focus is on making the club more sustainable and reducing spend on player wages, after a season marred by financial trouble behind the scenes.
Inter have identified an opportunity to make savings by releasing a group of players who are due to see their contracts expire next month, rather than offer extensions.
Amongst them are Ranocchia and D’Ambrosio, whilst fellow defender Aleksandar Kolarov and wing-back Ashley Young are also set to be let go.
Reserve goalkeeper Daniele Padelli has not made an appearance for the first team this season and will also be released, with the combined savings on the contracts of the five players set to exceed €10 million.
