Inter will focus on bringing down their wage bill and cutting costs this summer, leading to the release of up to five players and efforts to sell Matias Vecino and Andrea Pinamonti.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are determined to reach a more sustainable wage bill and have already begun identifying ways in which their total outlay can be brought down.
Uruguayan midfielder Vecino will be made available for transfer and Inter hope to cash in and free themselves of his €2.5 million per season salary, whilst they will also look to move young striker Pinamonti on, saving €2m for the remainder of his contract until 2024.
Inter are also set to release five players who are out of contract this summer rather than offer them extensions, with goalkeeper Daniele Padelli joining defenders Andrea Ranocchia, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Aleksandar Kolarov, and Ashley Young in being let go.
By offloading the five, the Nerazzurri expect to bring the wage bill down by just over €10m, whilst further savings can be made by selling players currently out on loan.
Joao Mario has enjoyed a successful season at Sporting CP and the Portuguese champions are keen to sign him, removing his €2.7m per year wages off Inter’s books. Similarly, Radja Nainggolan is ready to stay at Cagliari and his €4.5m salary has been a considerable burden to the Nerazzurri.
Inter also hope to raise €15m in transfer fees for the two midfielders, with neither having a future at the club.
