Inter coach Antonio Conte held a summit with senior directors at the club yesterday but his future won’t be decided until Monday.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the tactician is waiting to hear from President Steven Zhang and his plans for the club over the summer before committing his future.

Despite securing a €275 million loan from Oaktree Capital during the week, Zhang is looking to cut costs and Conte is fearful that he will lose key players ahead of his defence of the Scudetto next season.

As such, the coach held a meeting with directors Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio, Alessandro Antonello, and Vice-President Javier Zanetti at Inter’s Appiano Gentile training ground yesterday to consider the likelihood of Zhang’s plans.

Conte will meet with Zhang tomorrow for a one-to-one discussion before a wider meeting with the other directors, and is seeking assurances that key players won’t be sold and the team will remain strong enough to fight for the Scudetto, rather than merely Champions League qualification.

Zhang must convince Conte and leave no room for doubt before the former Juventus coach decides to commit for another season.
